1) Who we are (data controller)

Role: Data controller for processing carried out in the DAD ON app.

2) What the app does

DAD ON helps you remember what matters about your family — birthdays, memory bank notes, and optional reminders with thoughtful prompts.

Most of your family and memory bank data stays on your device. We do not operate a cloud account that stores your full family profile for us to browse.

3) What data we collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the app and improve it. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:

  • App content you save on your device: family member names, relationships, memory bank items, reminder preferences, and related notes you enter.
  • Optional email reminders: if you turn on email reminders, we process the email address you provide and the reminder schedule/content needed to send those emails.
  • Subscription data: purchase and subscription status through Apple/Google and our subscription provider (RevenueCat).
  • Device and app data: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone.
  • Usage and diagnostics data: app interactions (for example feature usage events), crash logs, and performance metrics.
  • Approximate location: derived from IP address (for example country/region) for security and analytics.

4) What we do not intentionally collect

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal data (for example health data, precise geolocation, or government ID numbers).

We do not sell personal data.

5) Why we process your data (purposes) and legal bases (GDPR)

We process personal data under the following purposes and legal bases:

  • Provide and operate the app (for example local reminders, memory bank, optional email delivery)

Legal basis: Contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) or Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) depending on the feature.

  • Improve app stability and performance (for example fix crashes, debug)

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

  • Security and fraud prevention

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) and/or Legal obligation where applicable (Art. 6(1)(c)).

  • Analytics to understand feature usage

Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where required, or Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for strictly necessary measurement.

  • Communications (for example support emails you send us)

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) and/or Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).

6) Cookies / tracking technologies

DAD ON is a mobile app and does not use browser cookies in the traditional sense. However, the app may use similar technologies (for example SDKs) for:

  • analytics
  • crash reporting
  • performance monitoring
  • subscription management

Where required, we will request your consent before enabling non-essential tracking.

7) Sharing and disclosure of data

We may share personal data with:

  • Service providers (processors) that help us operate the app (for example email delivery, hosting, analytics, crash reporting, subscription management, and customer support tooling).
  • Authorities if required by law.
  • Business transfers (for example merger/acquisition) where permitted by law.

We do not sell personal data.

8) International transfers

If we use service providers located outside the EU/EEA, we will ensure a lawful transfer mechanism is in place (for example the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) and apply appropriate safeguards.

9) Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, including:

  • as long as you use optional services that require it (for example email reminders)
  • as needed for support, security, and legal compliance

10) Your rights (EEA/UK)

If GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data
  • rectification (correct inaccurate data)
  • erasure (delete your data)
  • restriction of processing
  • data portability
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

11) Children

DAD ON is not intended for children under the age where parental consent is required under applicable law without such consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12) Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
